The Adkins diet focuses mainly on not eating carbohydrates. You mainly eat vegetables and meats. This diet is great for those that like to eat big portions and love meats! This diet is basically protein focused, much like Fat Loss 4 Idiots.
I personally have had one experience with the Adkins Diet. I had a very hard time with it. I had to cut out my favorite foods completely and not eat any carbohydrates. Needless to say, I lasted one week. By the end of the week, I became dizzy, tired, and just did not feel well. I contributed the symptoms to not eating a balanced diet.
My husband, however, has had great results with this type of diet. He loves the fact that he can eat as much meat and cheese as he wants while dieting. He also loves vegetables and ranch dressing. These are great snacks while on this diet. My husband has lost a great deal of weight on this plan, and was able to stick with it for months.
My advice to someone thinking of the Adkins Diet, is to try it for one week. Stick to it and be sure to keep an eye on how you are feeling. If your not feeling well, go back to eating a balanced diet. Your body is telling you that you need more nutrition.
